I bought both the Zagarese licorice versions (with and without Anise). I prefer the one with the Anise slighyly better. Both have a slight "flat" after taste. If you like real licorice, you will like these. If you like licorice candy (i.e., twizzlers, black crows, etc.), you might want to find a single box locally before you order quantity.

All I can say is if you are a true licorice lover this product is for you. Lagarese Licorice with Anise is great and well worth the price. Little box but great taste.

These are pellet size treats. At first they taste good, but
after a few seconds of sucking, they leave this bitter after
taste in your mouth. Not very pleasant. But, they do
deliver that licorice taste, if you like tiny treats.

I decided to try these in the hopes of finding a good organic and sugarless option. These are wonderful! I tried both the Pomegranate and Cherry flavors, and like them both. Instead of sugar, these are sweetened with cane juice. This adds a very slight flavor note, which enhances the appeal, giving these a bit more complexity and interest than the typical sugary-sweet hard candies. The fruit flavor is definitely predominant and comes through loud and clear. These last a long time, don't burn the roof of my mouth (like some hard candies do), and don't seem to get soft and sticky after residing in my purse for a while, like most hard candies do. These are a standard item in my household now!

From my wife Sarah: I see the other reviewers saying that it didn't cause irritation and one even had it used as a throat soother. I personally do find them on the acidic side, and if I eat too many I find they do cause a bit of irritation. It does take a lot of them to get me to that point though.

Still, I do find these to be delicious. They're very flavorful and fruity. They make a nice treat to throw into the mix with the other flavors from this brand. I especially like the honey flavored candy.

Some of these came in the assorted package I purchased a few weeks ago. I LOVE the apple, but wanted to taste other flavors, and I have to admit that, even though the apple is luscious, I opt more often for the pomegranate. Not to make a medical claim, but my brother developed a bad cold shortly after I got these. They also had some of the honey lemon in the mix and cherry, so I gave him a handful. Later he commented that the pomegranate worked better to soothe his throat than the honey lemon.

I have a problem with sugar addiction. I love candy and am trying to ween myself slowly off of sugar. I figured the 1st step in changing my sweet tooth would be to switch to organic candy. I bought a package of the Sour Cherry and the Sour Strawberry. This is the best licorice I have ever tasted! It is wonderful. Just the right blend of tart and sweet. This is one of the best tasting products that Newman's Own has come out with. If you love licorice and sweet and tart, this is for you.
